Supporting Families Across the District
Each child who enters the care of the Children’s Aid Society has a written access plan for continued contact with their caregivers. The Support Services Team is responsible for providing access to children who are in care of the Society. This is accomplished in collaboration and consultation with other Society, community professionals and care providers.
Support Services provides transportation, supervision and/or coordination of access visits. In order for access visits to be beneficial, they must be frequent and long enough to enhance the parent-child relationship. Guidelines have been developed to ensure that appropriate frequency and length of visits are maintained. A schedule of regular access is necessary as long as there remains the possibility of family reunification.
