Make a Meaningful Impact – Alternative Care Opportunities for Teens

The Children's Aid Society for the District of Thunder Bay is seeking compassionate and dedicated caregivers to make a difference in the lives of teens (ages 13-17). This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support a young person in need, offering them a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive.

As a caregiver, you'll play a key role in supporting a teen while helping them stay connected to their community. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement a personalized care plan, ensuring each child receives the support they need to grow and succeed.

Absolutely! The Children's Aid Society is continuously looking for caregivers to support children and youth of all ages. We are especially interested in individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with:

  • Experience in working with young people with medical or behavioral needs, or
  • Those who are eager to learn and receive training to care for children and youth with complex needs.
  • Non-taxable per diem to support you in your role.
  • Access to a professional support team, including alternative care and children's services workers, as well as trauma-informed staff from our therapeutic programs.
  • On-call after-hours support for peace of mind.
  • In-home support to assist you every step of the way.

Supports are provide to ensure the needs of children are met, while encouraging them to have choice in their lives and in their care.

Live-in Caregiving has its challenges. Experienced staff are committed to providing help every step of the way with 24/7 on-call support.

There is mandatory and trauma-informed training by our SPRING Program to guide and support in this important work.
